THE LOGIC OF MONKEY BALLS

Midwestern folklore claims that placing monkey balls in the cellar and the house will ward off spiders, but the truth is  the only way this fruit is going to get rid of spiders is by smashing them.  However, I have heard that by placing a monkey ball under your pillow at nighttime will ward off any dreams with spiders.

Some people say you cannot compare apples with oranges.  I dispute that since the common monkey ball has been called Osage orange because of  it indigenous region and its citrus smell when broken open, and also its thick bushy thorny tree was used to corral livestock before barbed wire was invented and thus was called by farmers "hedge apple."  So in the logic of monkey balls, an apple is an orange, an orange is an apple, and, yes, you indeed can compare apples with oranges.
